CP's 2022 Annual Review – Quality Control Chapter

From our previous post "CP's annual review - product leading chapter", CP has continued to invest in technology and product development despite challenging and complicated circumstances. Over the course of the year, we developed 4 newmodels, 2 with radio, and MDM mobile device management platform.

There is much more to developing and launching new products and innovations. The most significant thing we can do to earn the trust of our customers is to maintain high product quality and manufacturing excellence. We have spared no effort in improving the efficiency, quality, and technology of manufacturing in 2022. In order to make sure our customers get the products they see in our product release, we actively explored and established scientific quality control methods,then upgraded our production and quality control system.

01.Product Performance Improvement

• Introduction of RF Test System

Our devices can have high communication performance in remote areas where the quality of cellular communication is poor thanks to the Ultra-Link wireless communication technology which was released by CP in 2022. Our company has developed an extensive set of RF test systems for mass production testing in order to ensure consistency of RF performance. As part of our production line testing, our production department has introduced the industry-leading R&S CMW500 device, which is combined with shielding boxes and automated testing software. Radio frequency links are assembled from a variety of components, including communication modules, matching circuits, IPEX connectors, coaxial cables, antennas, and so on. The performance of the cellular network may be adversely affected by any failures. Our new equipment allows us to quickly detect TX and RX performance, locate faulty products, and deliver products with high RF performance after the introduction of the equipment and testing.

• Optimizing the Burn-in Test

Adapting to different application scenarios requires both high hardware configuration and high stability for electronic products. A large number of components and materials, as well as complex processing procedures, are used in the production of CP's intelligent hardware, which is highly integrated. In order to detect errors and defects in the production process, we have to burn in the product.

The burn-in testing process is benchmarked with the industry's first-class standard in 2022. Engineers at CP have developed a set of burn-in processes that cover ten automatic cycle tests for every device covering 3D/2D graphical interface, memory, cache, CAN communication, GPS and other important functions, which is extremely comprehensive and accurate, based on the most frequently encountered problems in manufacturing over the past three years.

 

02.Quality Management Improvement

• Self-developed MES System

In order to achieve traceability of all links, information such as material sources, manufacturing processes, and product quantities and locations can be recorded. As of early 2021, the self-developed MES system has taken shape, has been improved in 2022, and will be fully developed by the first half of 2023. It uses SN management to achieve "one product, one code" and has enabled traceability of products from production to customers. When a product has a quality problem, the system can support quick queries of relevant material information, and quickly locate the batch information of the material. Likewise, quality data can be used to analyze problems and improve production techniques in the future.

• Standardization of Quality Management

According to the ISO9001 quality system, CP has established effective business practices. From product design, R&D, new product introduction verification, change control, mass production quality management, to end-to-end strict process control, we maintain strict control throughout the entire process. The PDCA method was used to improve multiple checklists, including converting orders from customers to our internal order review form, and updating inspection forms based on customer reports of quality problems.

Product performance changes will be reflected in data fluctuations during production, and abnormal data fluctuations can affect product quality significantly. The adoption of SPC process control can reduce quality costs by eliminating abnormal fluctuations and preventing unqualified products from being sent out to our customers. We achieve an OQC of 99.92% for our end customers, by strictly implementing the CP quality system in compliance with the 16949 system.
